The word viral has many different connotations. To a doctor, it is an annoyance. To a computer expert, it is a threat. To a gynecologist, it is life threatening. To an internet marketer, it is a sought after technique, considered genius.

Viral marketing can be one of the most successful and cost effective methods of promoting your product. The goal is to create a good that contains advertisements for your product or service. The good that you create must be addictive, extremely informative, humorous, or just grabs your attention and makes you want to show your friends and family. If the good is sought after, your advertisements will spread like wildfire.

Many good internet marketers have created free Ebook guides that contain advertisements in them for their products. Different site owners would give their visitors these free products as an enticement that adds value to their site. Initially this was a very effective method. However, there are thousands of free products out now, and hundreds of well-written, informative products.

Why would you want to give your readers an advertisement for someone else?

Make Money As A Website Owner

It is possible to make money as a website owner, as a website publisher. If you don’t have a website, you can create one and we have a few nice tips for you, too. We will talk about them in our other articles.

You can’t make money online if a website is looking just like one of the websites below. Make sure the website is not like one of the websites below:

* Website that is based on “about me” content - it should be obvious that nobody except your friends care about this information? And since nobody cares about that site, you’ll get no visitors which means no money.

* Website which consist only of one page - does just one page keep visitors visiting the site? I don’t think so!

* Non-informational website - lets say you’ve decides to put a dog’s pictures on the website. Does it attract visitors? You can place dogs’ pictures on the website if you have quality content to match the pictures, like the dogs’ breeds or anything like that. Illustrated pages attract more visitors.

* Bad-quality information - if the information isn’t quite right or if anybody can’t understand the information, they will search for a better website, you’ll lose traffic. Since traffic equals money, you’ll lose money, too.

* Unattractive website - nobody likes websites that are too boring or that are uninteresting. A website definitely needs to be interesting so that it can attract atleast a few visitors.

* Websites looking unprofessional - have you ever been to a website and then thought that it just got to be the worst site ever made? These kinds of websites definitely keep visitors away.

Lets say you’ve got a good looking website which has got quality content and interesting information. You also know that the website is getting tens of thousands of unique visitors each month. Now is the good time to think about the ad-serving networks and join them as a publisher.

What is an ad-serving network? You can sign up as a publisher or as an advertiser to an ad-serving network. Lets say somebody joined as an advertiser to an ad-network. Advertisers pay the ad-networks and for return advertisers’ commercials or ads are shown on publishers’ webpages.

Then a website owner joins as a publisher. Publisher then gets a code from the ad-network to place on a website. The code loads ads to the publisher’s website and that ad is a commercial to the advertiser. If anyone clicks on them, the ad-network pays the publisher money, a cut from the money the advertiser had paid the ad-network. Few ad-networks pay not only for the clicks but for page-views, too. I hope you got the idea and now you should know why traffic is important.

I’ve listed few good ad-networks for you below:

* Google Adsense. See “What is AdSense? - Quick Tour” for more information if you need it. Now register. On the next page you are asked for the payee name and for the account type (which would be individual, since you got no company, right?) and things like that, just fill everything correctly, submit the information and everything you need to do now is to wait for an e-mail from Google.

* Casale Media. The website must receive more than 10,000 unique online visitors per month to qualify. This is one of the best program out there, too. Click on “Apply today to become a Casale Media publisher” on the bottom of the page to continue.. and fill the information.

* BrightAds by Kanoodle. It is worth checking out (link: ads.kanoodle.com/brightads).

* DoubleClick.com. This program is also worth checking out if you got high traffic.

* Fastclick.com. Read the specifications. This program is good, too, and it only needs a few thousand unique visitors a month, like google.

* AdTegrity.com. Minimum 75,000 unique visitors per month is hard to achieve but once you’ve gotten that, i recommend you to also try this ad-network. Read the publisher criteria and if you feel you can qualify, register.

Of course, there are lots of more of them but i think that should be enough for you. Just join one of them, put their code on to your webpage, optimize the website, optimize the ads and see how the money will be coming in.
